All governors have full membership and voting rights. Currently only the Executive Head Teacher as a governor sits on governing bodies of two other schools. The Bridge - Independent school, part of Life Education Trust and St. Alban's Catholic Primary School.
Agenda and associated papers are put together for the Chairs approval by Governing body support unit from Havering. The Clerk to the Governing body is Anesta Broad.
Annual pecuniary interest declarations are signed by all governors and there are currently no governors with business interests linked to the school.
The Governors play an important role in our school. Please click the link to read more about what their role entails.
• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
• Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and
• Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.
Health and Safety matters:
The governing body has to plan for the school to be able to implement the health and safety policy by setting health and safety objectives and performance standards for their school. This will promote a positive view of health and safety and control risks.
Asbestos;
Asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) were used extensively in the construction of schools and other public buildings from the 1950s until the use of asbestos in Great Britain was completely banned in 1999.
We can assure our parental community, alongside visitors to site that there are effective management systems in place. It is expected that staff refresh their understanding of the asbestos register at the start of every academic year, and mid year inductions to school life include reading the asbestos register. Contractors prior to starting work also have to sign they have read and understood the asbestos register and these signed documents confirming they understand our asbestos register are kept on file. This is managed by the Schools Site Manager. If parents/carers request information regarding known asbestos materials on our site please email our school office FAO of our Schools Business Manager.
Further information about asbestos in schools can be found here;
