Friends of Towers Fundraising Association
The Friends of Towers Fundraising Association (FoTFA) is a group of parents who plan and organise events and activities throughout the academic year to raise much needed funds for the Federation of Towers Schools. With support from parents and the wider school community, FoTFA enables the schools to purchase educational equipment and provide resources (otherwise restricted by school budgets) which enhance the learning experience of every child.
In the past year, money raised by FoTFA has been used to create a curriculum enhancing, sensory garden, as well as to purchase smart boards and much needed playtime equipment for the Early Years Foundation Stage. We are also currently working alongside the Headteachers and the school councillors to develop ideas for the improvement of all outdoor play areas.
Who are FoTFA?
Currently, FoTFA is made up of four chairpersons and twenty committee members, all of whom are parents of children at the schools.
Every parent, guardian, carer or grandparent of a pupil at the Federation of Towers Schools is welcome to join the committee or become a volunteer helper. All support is greatly appreciated. We cannot raise money and put on the events without your help!
How can I join FoTFA or Volunteer at an Event?
Whether you are new to the schools or your child is in Year 6, we would always welcome your help at any point during the academic year to support an event. No matter how much or how little time you can give - it all helps to raise money for the schools!
Each April, FoTFA hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the school, when you can join the committee or simply put your name down as a volunteer helper. Even if you cannot commit to helping, its a great way of finding out about the work of FoTFA, what we have planned and what money raised will be spent on.
This year the AGM will be taking place on Wednesday 10 April at 7.30pm.
If you would like to be part of this friendly, dedicated team or simply volunteer for an event, please come along to the AGM or email email@example.com
What FoTFA do
FoTFA meet at the school one evening, once every half term to plan and discuss upcoming events and fundraising activities. Attendees at the meetings can also include the Executive Head, Mr Dineen; Head of Junior School, Mrs Hobbs; and Head of Infant School, Ms Blurton. Teachers and other school staff may also attend.
FoTFA also provide assistance to the school when required, for example at the Macmillan Bake Sale, serving refreshments at Christmas performances and school open days.
Each academic year FoTFA organise many fun-filled events and activities which not only raise money, but also aim to bring the school community together. Events we are responsible for include:
- Summer Fete
- School Discos and Reception Party
- Inflatables Day
- Pop-Up Circus
- Rock and Roll Bingo
- Pantomime Ticket Sales
- Southend ‘Adventure Island’ Wristband Sales
- Marsh Farm Ticket Sales
