The authority have informed schools that Public Health England and the DfE have agreed a 6 day window after the final day of teaching in which schools are asked to remain contactable so they can assist with contact tracing where necessary. This will allow enough time for positive COVID-19 cases to be identified and confirmed by a test and for relevant contacts in the education setting to be traced. Although not a legal requirement, the DfE have confirmed that to help the national effort to limit the spread of the virus, they are asking schools to assist with contact tracing for a limited time at the start of the Christmas holidays. As Leaders across the Federation this is what we shall do. They go on to say that assuming the last day in school is 18th December, schools will only need to contact trace for pupils/staff where their symptoms appeared between 18th and 20th December. For us at Towers this will mean our last day in school is 17th December, as two schools we will only need to contact trace for children and staff where their symptoms appeared between 17th and 19th December. Where a pupil or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, having developed symptoms more than 48 hours since being in school, the school should not be contacted, and parents/staff are advised that they should follow the contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace.

Just so parents are aware the duration of isolation changed from Monday 14th December from 14 days to 10 days and further information can be found here; https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-chief-medical-officers-statement-on-the-self-isolation-period-11-december-2020

Therefore please see dates below regarding date of last contact against return date to usual activity below.

From 00:01 on Sunday 20th December the tiers are changing and unfortunately Havering has been classified at Tier 4. See information below regarding what this means for us as a community. #staysafeteamtowers
